No Republicans joined her effort or cosponsored her resolution and she chose not to force a vote on the floor.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) introduced the House version of the Hatch Act Enforcement Transparency and Accountability Act. This legislation will strengthen the safeguards intended to ensure that federal government employees behave in a fair, competent, and nonpartisan manner by requiring that the executive branch report to Congress when it declines to investigate potential violations of the Hatch Act. This bill accompanies an existing bill in the Senate introduced by Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M).

“No reasonable person would view my comments as a threat. We are living in a dangerous time, and elected members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. We will not be silenced,” said Congressman Robert Garcia.

Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democratic darling from Long Beach, is facing scrutiny from President Trump’s Department of Justice for his recent comments about Elon Musk.

Garcia has skewered Musk on several occasions since the billionaire began his mission to gut the federal government using his newly created Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. In several media interviews, Garcia has called for increasing oversight of DOGE, including issuing a subpoena to Musk.

The legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC) and Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA), seeks to ensure the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) does not reject aid applications before a final decision has been made on insurance claims for disaster-related losses.

County residents during the Los Angeles fires. Some individuals received delayed evacuation warnings, some received the same message multiple times, and millions received unnecessary warnings. This caused widespread alarm and reduced the potential impact of future alerts, threatening public safety.
