Get Affordable Internet
High-speed internet service is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. But too many families go without high-speed internet because of the cost or have to cut back on other essentials to make their monthly internet service payments. Lowering prices—including the cost of high-speed internet service—is House Democrats top priority.
The passage of President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law brings with it a multitude of opportunities for Californians, particularly in the realm of high-speed internet access. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will invest $65 billion in broadband infrastructure, helping ensure that every American has access to reliable high-speed internet and creating new opportunities for small businesses nationwide. The law provides significant funding to expand broadband infrastructure, ensuring that more households and businesses in rural and underserved areas have access to reliable, high-speed internet. This will unleash new economic opportunities, promote telehealth services, and support our students in their educational pursuits.
Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)
Included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible households $30 per month off their internet bills. Households that qualify can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers.
There are several ways to qualify for the ACP:
1) through participation in other government programs
2) based on your annual household income, or
3) by participating in an internet service provider's low income plan.
This funding will help bridge the digital divide and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive in the digital age. In our district alone, over 76,000 constituents rely on access to affordable internet through the ACP.
