Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) on Monday threatened former Attorney General Pam Bondi with contempt of Congress, a day before her previously scheduled deposition with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on its investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case.

“Our bipartisan subpoena was very clear: Pam Bondi is supposed to testify tomorrow, whether she’s the AG or not,” Garcia, the top Democrat on the committee, wrote on social platform X. “If she doesn’t show up, she will face contempt.”

Gay Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) celebrated President Donald Trump’s Thursday firing of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Trump praised Noem’s performance and said he will replace her at the end of the month with anti-LGBTQ+ Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK).

“Well, now we don’t have to impeach her,” wrote Garcia on X. Garcia has regularly criticized Noem as the ranking member and lead Democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.

Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee are investigating whether the Justice Department purposefully withheld materials in its release of the Jeffrey Epstein files that included sexual assault allegations against President Donald Trump.

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), the ranking member of the panel, said in a statement Tuesday that such an act by DOJ would violate the law Congress passed in November, which required the administration to publicly release all files in its possession related to the federal case against Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

California Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, called Thursday’s arrest of former Prince Andrew “an enormous step forward” in lawmakers’ investigation into the crimes of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest is an enormous step forward in our fight to secure justice for the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s horrific crimes,” Garcia wrote in a statement.

The ranking member of the House Oversight Committee is demanding answers from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, days after Lutnick reportedly met with the owner of the Ambassador Bridge.

The New York Times reported earlier this week that the conversation between Lutnick and bridge owner Matthew Moroun on Monday, Feb. 9, came hours before President Trump threatened to stop the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. 

Both bridges connect Detroit to Canada.
