LONG BEACH, CA – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) announced $1.5 million in federal funding for Long Beach City College (LBCC) to support long-overdue upgrades to the Child Development Center (CDC), which serves children of students, faculty, staff, and community members. This funding will help modernize outdoor learning spaces, including new playground equipment, and expand access to high-quality early childhood education for families across Long Beach.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) reintroduced the International Human Rights Defense Act (IHRDA) following the Supreme Court’s rejection of a challenge to the constitutional right to same-sex marriage. This bill would direct the State Department to monitor and respond to violence against LGBTQ+ people worldwide, while creating a comprehensive plan to combat discrimination, criminalization, and hate-motivated attacks against LGBTQ+ communities.
