Congressman Garcia knows we must also take action to save lives and finally bring an end to America’s epidemic of gun violence. He believes Congress needs to come together and pass legislation that mandates universal background checks for all firearm purchases, bans assault-style weapons, prohibits gun ownership by those under the age of 21 and establishes a strong federal licensing system. He understands that we must also ensure that Congress enact and enforce red flag laws—a proven measure to prevent gun crimes before they occur—and provide local communities and organizations with the tools necessary to address the causes of gun violence—especially in our most marginalized neighborhoods.

WASHINGTON — As National Gun Violence Awareness Month winds down, Democrats are reintroducing a bill to restrict the bulk sale of ammunition, Spectrum News has learned.
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) reintroduced the “Ammunition Modernization and Monitoring Oversight (AMMO) Act.” The bill would restrict bulk sales of ammunition by requiring businesses to conduct background checks on buyers and would require businesses who sell ammunition to obtain the same federal license as gun dealers.
