Congressman Robert Garcia’s Piers Reinvestment Act Passes Through Committee as Part of the BUILD America 250 Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) announced that his Piers Reinvestment Act has been included as a provision in the BUILD America 250 Act, which passed a major legislative hurdle, passing out of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and is one step closer to becoming law. The provision would help coastal communities repair and upgrade aging piers by expanding access to federal infrastructure funding.
 

“Our piers support small businesses, local economies, and entire coastal communities,” said Congressman Robert Garcia. “I’m thrilled that this provision is moving forward as part of the BUILD America 250 Act and getting closer to the finish line. This is a real win for Long Beach and coastal communities up and down California and across the country.”
 

The provision would make municipally owned piers eligible for federal grant funding through the Department of Transportation to help support local governments and coastal economies.
