The YIMBY movement focuses on encouraging new housing development, removing barriers to the construction of new homes, and investing in the critical infrastructure we need to address the affordable housing crisis.

Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Long Beach, was elected by his colleagues to a key Democratic Caucus leadership role to represent newer members of Congress on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The term is effective immediately and will last two years. 

Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022, Garcia is also president of the current Democratic freshman class, but that role is ending as a new freshman class comes in on Jan. 3.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $413,600 grant to the City of Huntington Park to develop a city-wide comprehensive safety action plan. Funded through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program, this initiative aims to address insufficient pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure and high vehicle speeds in the city’s dense urban community.

California Democrat U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia, known for his outspoken LGBTQ+ advocacy and calling out right-wing extremism, has formally entered the race for the Caucus Leadership Representative position in the House of Representatives. In a letter to colleagues on Wednesday, Garcia outlined his vision for a modernized, inclusive, and communicative Democratic caucus that pushes back against misinformation while building a path to reclaim the House majority in 2026.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) announced the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has awarded over $1.5 million in federal funding to the City of Long Beach to support the Long Beach City Police Department (LBCPD) Body-Worn Camera Expansion Project and to scale up Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD), which supports individuals struggling with substance abuse by offering diversion programs, including treatment and field-based services.

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) said that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination to the secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) position was “f‑‑‑ing insane.” 

“He’s a vaccine denier and a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist,” Garcia wrote in a Thursday post on social platform X. 

“He will destroy our public health infrastructure and our vaccine distribution systems. This is going to cost lives.”

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) and Senator Mike Braun’s (R-IN) bipartisan bill to improve government oversight and effectiveness has passed the U.S. House. The bill passed the Senate by unanimous consent in November 2023, and will now be sent to President Biden to be signed into law.
