The most recent contestant to win RuPaul’s Drag Race, Sasha Colby, stopped in Washington, D.C., for her first appearance since winning the competition show.

Colby performed at Pitchers, a popular gay bar in the Adams Morgan section of the capital city, to throngs of excited fans.

Among them was the first gay immigrant elected to Congress, California Rep. Robert Garcia.

Garcia, who has not been shy about his fandom for all things Drag Race, tells The Advocate that he was a Colby fan from day one.

These projects aim to serve communities throughout the district by providing federal funding for everything from parks to educational facilities and affordable housing developments for seniors.

Long Beach, CA - Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) today announced his submission of the Downey Family YMCA Community Project for $3 million in federal funding to the House Committee on Appropriations for funding consideration in the FY2024 cycle. The Downey YMCA has served as a critical hub for the Downey community for decades, serving over 10,000 community members annually, many of whom live in underserved communities.

Washington D.C. - Congressman Robert Garcia today announced his submissions of Community Project Funding requests to the House Committee on Appropriations for funding in the FY2024 cycle. These projects aim to serve communities throughout the district by providing federal funding for everything from parks to educational facilities to rebuilding the CSULB childcare center.. 
 
The Long Beach area projects total $20.5 million and includes 6 projects in Long Beach, 1 in Lakewood and 1 in Avalon.
