Two Western lawmakers are pressing the Biden administration to prioritize seaports, signaling a bipartisan push to get infrastructure funds to the waterside after Covid-19 illustrated supply chain vulnerabilities. Reps. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) and Randy Weber (R-Texas) sought changes from the Environmental Protection Agency as it implements the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act infrastructure law, in a letter first obtained by Bloomberg Government. The co-chairmen of the Congressional PORTS Caucus pressed EPA to set flexible completion deadlines for clean energy projects, allow more spending on charging infrastructure, and ensure funds make their way to the waterfront.

Robert Garcia, D-Calif., who spearheaded this effort, said that most immigrants his office helps only speak Spanish, meaning that his staff spends many hours ensuring constituents have access to USCIS forms in Spanish, but then also translating their Spanish-language answers and documents to English before submitting them to USCIS, as required by its current internal policy.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene abruptly walked out of a House committee hearing on Tuesday after being accused of hugging and high-fiving defendants in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. [...]
Garcia, who was selected to speak following Greene's comments, slammed the congresswoman over her remarks, accusing her of "coddling" those arrested in the January 6 attack.
"I want to remind the gentlelady that it was her that actually organized a trip to the D.C. jail to hug and high-five and sit with the insurrectionists that actually attacked our Capitol," he said. "So, if we're talking about the safety of D.C., and the Capitol, it is quite, I think, ironic."
Midway through Garcia's comments, Greene stood up and walked out.

“Well, when you say that you want to pollute, when immigrants are polluting this country, that to me and the blood of this country, that is absolutely reminiscent of things that Adolf Hitler said,” Garcia explained. “And, in fact, his imagery, the way he supports white nationalism, the way he supports white supremacy, and those kinds of comments are completely offensive to immigrants and hopefully to all Americans in this country.”
