Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) introduced a bill Wednesday to prohibit the use of federal funds to prosecute the use of legal psilocybin, commonly known as “magic mushrooms.”

Rep. Robert Garcia introduced legislation Wednesday aimed at discouraging federal law enforcement agencies from conducting raids or otherwise intervening in states and localities that have approved local measures to legalize or decriminalize the use and possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

Shortly after Speaker McCarthy announced that he was directing House committees to open an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, Rep. Robert Garcia called for an investigation into Jared Kushner to determine the circumstances behind a $2 billion investment secured by Kushner from the Saudi Government just months after leaving the Trump White House.

Congress has until September 30th to pass 12 spending bills that will keep the government running. But hard-right House republicans say they aren’t signing off on the bills or voting to extend the deadline for funding until their demands are met.
