The House Oversight Committee’s top Democrat raised concerns about a Justice Department official’s decision to represent Pam Bondi during her testimony about the release of files related to the sex trafficking investigation into disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Democrats are raising questions about a number of unusual aspects agreed to by the panel’s Republicans for a slated deposition with former Attorney General Pam Bondi, including whether she will be under oath and videotaped.
The letter also indicates Bondi would be represented by Harmeet Dhillon, the Justice Department’s assistant attorney general for civil rights.

House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia (D-CA) kicked off a committee roundtable on Tuesday by announcing that Democratic members would be boycotting it since it was “not a real hearing.”

Representative Robert Garcia of California, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, sent a new letter to Republican Chairman James Comer on Thursday, pressing for action after former Attorney General Pam Bondi failed to appear for a deposition on the Jeffrey Epstein files despite being subpoenaed to testify earlier this week.
Garcia wrote in the letter, “Any attempt to evade the subpoena must be met with measures to hold Ms. Bondi in contempt of Congress.”
