MS Now – Rep. Garcia urges Senate panel to reject Blanche nomination
House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Robert Garcia, D-Calif., joined the chorus of voices urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to reject Blanche’s nomination.
In a letter to the committee’s top members shared with MS NOW, Garcia argued that Blanche’s handling of the Epstein files was enough to disqualify him from the role of U.S. attorney general.
The letter was addressed to Sens. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., the committee’s chairman and ranking member, respectively.
That handling, Garcia wrote, “shows his only loyalty is to President Trump, his former client, and not delivering justice to Epstein’s survivors or transparency to the American people.”
“No nominee with his record should be confirmed to lead the Department,” Garcia continued.
The letter cites Blanche’s highly unusual meetings with convicted Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as allegations that Epstein-related documents were reviewed so as to “shield President Trump.”
Garcia’s committee has led the charge on the House investigation of Epstein — one that will only intensify if Democrats take back control of the House.
