Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) called on New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) to resign on Wednesday following the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) move to drop federal corruption charges against him. 

“I personally agree with the majority of New Yorkers and think Mr. Mayor that you should resign,” Garcia told Adams, who was testifying along with other Democratic mayors before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

It’s been nearly two weeks since the Department of Justice demanded Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., explain what he meant by saying fellow Democrats should “bring actual weapons to this bar fight” in an interview on CNN.

And according to Garcia, U.S. Attorney Ed Martin is going to be waiting a while longer for a response – if Garcia sends any at all. The Long Beach congressman says his office never even received the letter from Martin, and only became aware of it when a Washington Post reporter reached out for comment.

Today, after Congress closed its weeklong work session, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) released the following statement after Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace failed to bring a censure to the floor for his push-back on Elon Musk.

No Republicans joined her effort or cosponsored her resolution and she chose not to force a vote on the floor.

Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democratic darling from Long Beach, is facing scrutiny from President Trump’s Department of Justice for his recent comments about Elon Musk.

Garcia has skewered Musk on several occasions since the billionaire began his mission to gut the federal government using his newly created Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. In several media interviews, Garcia has called for increasing oversight of DOGE, including issuing a subpoena to Musk.

Congressman Robert Garcia (D-CA) has introduced the Fair Disaster Assistance Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at preventing premature denials of federal assistance for disaster survivors.

The legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC) and Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA), seeks to ensure the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) does not reject aid applications before a final decision has been made on insurance claims for disaster-related losses.
