Congressman Garcia Meets with Southern California Association of Governments to Discuss Accessible Infrastructure
Washington D.C.- Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) met with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) today to discuss accessible infrastructure in California’s 42nd district. SCAG develops long-range regional transportation plans that prioritize sustainable community strategy, regional transportation improvement programs, and regional housing needs in Southern California.
“As Mayor of Long Beach, I witnessed first-hand the vital role that accessible infrastructure plays in sustaining a thriving community. I am thankful to have been able to discuss the infrastructure priorities and needs of our district with SCAG’s Executive Director Kome Ajise, President Jan Harnik, and their team. ” said Congressman Garcia. “One of my top priorities in Congress is making sure that our streets are walkable, our bike lanes are accessible, and that our communities can continue to grow.”

Under Congressman Garcia’s leadership as Mayor, Long Beach passed measures to support community safety and rebuild infrastructure, legalize and tax cannabis while promoting social equity, and create ethics and redistricting commissions. His signature ballot initiative, Measure A, launched the largest infrastructure repair program in a generation, promoting good-paying union jobs for Southern Californians.
