Congressman Robert Garcia’s Statement on GOP Dysfunction

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) released the following statement after House Republicans failed to elect a new House Speaker:

“At a time of crisis around the world, Congress needs a Speaker who will govern responsibly. House Republicans have shown time and time again they are incapable of putting aside their own partisan priorities for the sake of the country. We are now left again without a Speaker and the House continues to be in disarray at the hands of extremists. With Republicans wasting precious time, we are prevented from working to approve aid for our allies, funding the government, and protecting Social Security and Medicare. They need to figure this out, preferably without electing a right-wing, Trump-puppet, MAGA-extremist as Speaker.”
