Congressman Robert Garcia to Submit Privileged Resolution to Expel George Santos After Release of Damning Ethics Report

November 17, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) released the following statement after the release of the House Committee on Ethics’ damning report of George Santos’s misconduct:

“Over nine months ago, I led the charge to expel George Santos from Congress. Today, I thank the Ethics Committee for reaffirming the blatantly obvious fact that George Santos is unfit to serve. The Committee’s condemning report has made it crystal clear that the GOP’s decision to wait 9 months to act was not only irresponsible, but dangerous. Let us not forget that prior to the release of this damming report, George Santos already faced 23 criminal charges including wire fraud, conspiracy, making false statements, falsifying records, aggravated identity theft and credit card fraud. George Santos has no place in Congress and that is why I will once again be submitting a privileged resolution to expel this liar and fraud when we return to session on November 28th.”

In February of 2023, Congressman Garcia introduced a resolution to expel George Santos from Congress. In May, Congressman Garcia forced a floor vote on this resolution, which every House Republican voted to refer to the Ethics Committee, rather than vote to expel.
