Congressman Robert Garcia Announces $1.5 Million for Childcare and Early Learning Improvements at Long Beach City College
LONG BEACH, CA – Today, Congressman Robert Garcia (CA-42) announced $1.5 million in federal funding for Long Beach City College (LBCC) to support long-overdue upgrades to the Child Development Center (CDC), which serves children of students, faculty, staff, and community members. This funding will help modernize outdoor learning spaces, including new playground equipment, and expand access to high-quality early childhood education for families across Long Beach.
“We know reliable childcare can make a real difference for families, and the LBCC Child Development Center is a space that so many families rely on,” said Congressman Robert Garcia. “At LBCC, many of our students and faculty are also parents, and having a safe, welcoming place for their kids matters.”
Last year, the House Committee on Appropriations announced they would begin accepting Community Project Funding requests from Members of Congress to meet the needs of communities across the country. Congressman Garcia and his staff have reached out and met with numerous stakeholders from each corner of the district to discuss projects throughout each of the communities the Congressman represents.
