MS NOW – Garcia slams Trump’s ‘two-day party’ as Democrats counter final day of GOP convention
Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., accused Trump of throwing himself a celebration in Dallas while Americans struggle with everyday costs, as House Democrats sought to counter the Republican midterm convention.
“What’s happening right now is Donald Trump is throwing himself a two-day party to celebrate himself,” Garcia said at a news conference today. He said that while Trump and Vance “party away for two days,” families are struggling to afford groceries, rent and gasoline.
Garcia, who was joined by three other House Democrats sent to Texas by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, also criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Garcia said he visited a “Trump Epstein reading room” opened by Epstein survivors in Dallas, where he blasted Attorney General Todd Blanche’s appearance on the convention stage Wednesday night.
“What the survivors are saying is that they are also disgusted that Todd Blanche is out there giving speeches while refusing criminal convictions, while refusing to release the rest of the files,” Garcia said.
